Shoppers take advantage of tax-free weekend
Shoppers in Missouri continue to take advantage of the tax-free weekend.
Between Friday and Sunday, consumers in 12 states get a break from sales tax on certain items.
In Missouri, clothing under $100, computers under $3,500 and school supplies under $50 are tax free.
Since school begins for many children in a few weeks, parents are breathing easy with that tax break.
Shoppers don’t pay the state tax but still have to pay the city and county taxes, but many say they still benefit from the state tax break.
“It’s one of those things where you know we try to be very conscious of our finances, and especially with all our rent, tuition and books,” said shopper JT Thomas. “Every little bit counts. And it feels good.”
