Child hit by car while riding bike

Authorities say a child is recovering after getting hit by a car in eastern Columbia.

The incident happened Thursday night around 7:30 on Volunteer Drive between Richland and St. Charles roads.

Columbia Police Officers tell ABC 17 News a child, between the ages of 4 and 5, was riding their bike, when they darted out onto the street. Police say the child came out behind a parked car.

Officers say the child was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle with minor injuries.
