Severe storms, heavy rain possible Wednesday

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon into the evening as a stationary boundary works to lift northward as a warm front.

Overnight, rain chances increase for Mid-Missouri as a strong upper level wave dives in from the northwest, providing support for ongoing showers and thunderstorms through Wednesday.

Heavy rain is possible with these storms as moisture is fed in by the low level jet stream.

Some storms in the afternoon and evening could become severe due to the increased amount of wind shear in area due to a developing low pressure system.

There will also be enough instability for these storms to reach severe limits, particularly in our western and southwestern counties.

Areas along and south of a Keytesville to Owensville line are under a slight risk for severe storms Wednesday, with all modes of severe weather possible, including large hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes. That risk will continue into the early overnight hours Thursday.
