Jefferson City man recovering after he was kidnapped, robbed and shot

A Jefferson city man is recovering after he was robbed, kidnapped and shot.

It happened on July 24th in the 2000 block of St. Louis Road in Jefferson City. Police say two suspects robbed the 27-year-old victim of 35 dollars in cash, then drove to St. Louis with the victim at gunpoint. Once in St. Louis, one of the suspects shot the victim once in the head. Both suspects then fled.

Police say the victim survived the shooting and was able to tell St. Louis police about the robbery and kidnapping.

St. Louis detectives then contacted Jefferson City Police to investigate the case. The information led Jefferson City detectives to contact one of the suspects in Jefferson City.

That suspect, Brooklynn E. Stevenson, an 18-year-old Jefferson City female, was taken into custody on Wednesdayand questioned by detectives. Stevenson admitted holding a firearm to the victim’s torso during the kidnapping while driving to St. Louis. However authorities say Stevenson did not shoot the victim.

Stevenson is now charged with Robbery in the First Degree, two counts of Armed Criminal Action, and Kidnapping. On Thursday she remained in the Cole County Jail.

The other suspect is currently incarcerated in another jurisdiction for a separate crime. Jefferson City police officers say they will interview him Thursday.

The victim is expected to recover from the shooting, but remained hospitalized on Thursday.
