Lake area sheriff’s departments warn of elderly scams
Two sheriff’s departments are teaming up to make sure Mid-Missouri seniors don’t get ripped off.
On Wednesday, Morgan and Camden County deputies announced their support for the Helpers for Hire program.
It’s a non-profit organization that runs background checks for home workers.
Law enforcement claims “fly-by-night” companies promise one price and demand another.
They think elderly victims are easy targets, especially in the summer months.
