Suspects in Hy-Vee shooting turn themselves in

Investigators say two suspects have turned themselves in after a shooting at the Hy-Vee on Truman Blvd.

Tra’Nae Williams, 19, of Callaway County and Kinvana Matthews, 19, also of Callaway County are now facing charges.

Police confirm a woman was shot at the Hy-Vee on Truman Blvd. Monday afternoon at around 1:20.

JCPD said they found the 22-year-old in a car near the Hy-Vee gas station after several 911 calls from witnesses.

Witnesses and the victim told police two other women in a vehicle were talking to her when a fight broke out, leading to one of them shooting the victim once with a handgun. The two suspects then left the area in a silver car heading west on West Truman Blvd.

The woman is in serious but stable condition after a single gunshot wound to the chest.

She was taken to an area hospital.
