Excessive heat through Tuesday, storms Tuesday night

We will have one more day of this excessive heat and humidity Tuesday as high temperatures reach the mid 90s. The humidity will make the air oppressive with the afternoon heat indices ranging from 103 to 110. An Excessive Heat Warning continues until 9pm Tuesday evening for areas south of HWY 24 with a Heat Advisory north.

A cold front will slowly move through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Storms are expected to develop ahead of this front and move southeast through the overnight hours. The storms could be strong to severe in northwestern Missouri but will weaken as we get farther into the night and they move southeast. Our northwestern counties are under a marginal severe threat for isolated storm with damaging wind or large hail Tuesday night.

Behind the front, temperatures will stay in the mid-upper 80s Wednesday and Thursday afternoons with less humidity, leading to overnight lows in the 60s.
