Police: one home robber caught, second suspect still on the loose

One man has been arrested, but another suspect remains on the loose, after an armed home invasion robbery Thursday afternoon near the Columbia mall.

Police claim two robbers carrying guns broke into another man’s home around 1:10 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Tiger Lane, near Stadium Boulevard and Worley Street. They assaulted him and drove away in a silver Chrysler 300.

Officers also got the vehicle’s registration, which led them to a house in north Columbia. They later found the suspects’ car outside 2467 East Heying Drive, off Oakland Gravel Road near Highway 63.

Investigators say Gregory Brewster, Jr., 19, was identified as the driver. Brewster was arrested after trying to run away just before 7 p.m.

The department emphasized the case is still on-going.
