Dog treats recalled for salmonella

The Natural Dog Company has recalled a type of dog treat that could be contaminated with salmonella.

The company is recalling its 12 ounce bags of 12″ Tremenda Sticks pet chews due to the risk of the illness.

Salmonella can affect animals eating the product, and there is a risk for humans if they’ve touched the treats without washing their hands.

Pets who become infected can become carriers and infect other animals and humans.

The treats were distributed to stores in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Utah, and Washington.

The recalled treats come in 12 oz. bags with UPC number 851265004957.
