Animal Control investigating after puppies were abandoned in the heat

The Central Missouri Humane Society needs help from the public in finding whoever abandoned puppies on one of the hottest days of the year.

Officials said someone discovered the five puppies at Oakland Park in Columbia on Monday, when the heat index topped 100 degrees.

They were all crammed inside a crate with no food or water.

The humane society said they were all very frail and dehydrated, and one of them ended up dying.
