Police: roommate’s body found in wooden box

New court documents claim Karen Brinkley, 54, strangled her roommate, Marion Gerloff, 64, before hiding her body in a wooden trunk.

Police were called to their home at 415 Frene Drive, around 3 Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to reports of a missing person and a well-being check on Gerloff.

Investigators say Brinkley let them search her duplex.

They found what appeared to be human remains inside a box in the west bedroom.

Officials say while Brinkley was in custody she confessed to strangling Gerloff.

An autopsy was performed on Gerloff Monday morning.

Brinkley is due in court 9 a.m. Wednesday for charges of second-degree murder.
