Columbia man arrested for drugs, domestic assault

A Columbia man was arrested Tuesday on several outstanding warrants, including drug possession and leaving the scene of an accident.

20-year-old Timothy Midgyett Jr. was arrested for failure to appear for driving without a license, failure to appear for distributing marijuana, failure to appear for tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and leaving the scene of an accident, and another tampering and resisting arrest warrant.

Midgyett was also arrested for domestic assault and endangering the welfare of a child after assaulting his girlfriend on June 29.

Police said Midgyett chased the woman down Broadway and cut her off at Rockingham, and got inside the passenger side of her car.

Midgyett then told her to drive away before he started choking her. There was a 2-year-old child in the car at the time, who was related to Midgyett.

Just one day before, Midgyett was arrested for domestic assault, property damage, stealing, and trespassing after his girlfriend told police he came to her apartment a week prior and refused to leave.

The woman told police Midgyett choked her, threw a candle at her, and threw water in her face over the course of two days.

Midgyett is currently being held in the Boone County Jail on $20,000 cash only bond.
