Severe storm & heavy rain threat Wednesday
Storms will be ongoing in the morning hours Wednesday and will diminish as we head into the afternoon. Heavy rain from morning storms will leave the ground saturated with areas of flooding possible. As we head into late afternoon, storms are expected to re-develop in western Missouri and track to the southeast. Wind shear and instability will be high enough to generate rotating storms or supercells which could produce large hail or tornadoes. We have a 2 to 5% probability of a tornado within 25 miles of a point and 15% probability of large hail over 1″ in diameter.
As storms move to the southeast through the evening, the severe threat will transition into mainly a damaging wind threat. We have a 15% probability of 58 mph or greater winds within 25 miles of a point.
Heavy rain will increase the threat of flash flooding through Wednesday evening with an additional 1-3″ possible.
