Possible severe storms & heavy rain late Thursday

A slow moving cold front will generate storms as it moves south Thursday afternoon, stalling near I-70 Thursday night. During the day, temperatures will heat up to near 90 with high humidity as dew points will hover near 75 Thursday afternoon. Storms will develop from mid-afternoon through the evening as the front pushes south into very unstable air. These storms could become severe with damaging winds 58 mph or greater and could contain large hail.

Another wave of low pressure is expected to move in from the west Thursday night, traveling along the front near I-70. Additional storms will develop and move east, bringing the potential for heavy rain along with strong, gusty winds through early Friday morning. These will taper off through the day Friday as the cold front pushes south into southern Missouri.

There is the potential for 1-3 inches of rain across Mid-Missouri through Friday with highest amounts near I-70 which could lead to flooding.
