Weeks worth of trash picked up after mobile home park fails to pay trash service
UPDATE: The trash was picked up late Friday afternoon around 4 p.m. at the request of Senator Brian Munzlinger and Attorney General Chris Koster.
Weeks worth of trash has piled up at a Randolph County mobile home park after the owner failed to pay for waste removal services for months.
An ABC 17 News viewer told ABC 17 trash hasn’t been consistently picked up at the Moberly Mobile Home Park on Route JJ near Huntsville.
State Senator Brian Munzlinger, who represents Randolph County, told ABC 17 News Thursday he received a call from a representative at Advanced Disposal, who said it hasn’t been paid for trash services since January 1.
Sen. Munzlinger told ABC 17 News his office immediately went to work on the issue Thursday afternoon, and said “the situation has been resolved.”
Munzlinger confirmed Advanced Disposal has been paid, and the trash will be picked up.
Residents in the mobile home park voiced concerns over the issues at the park Thursday.
“The road is washing away. I told him about it, and I have problems in my house that need to be fixed. He tells me that I’m buying it when I’m still renting. We just can’t get anything done, and now nobody’s coming to pick up the trash again? That was a problem before,” said Kim Griggs, resident.
“The trash is usually gone within a week when it’s starting to pile up, but other than that lately it’s just been piling up. I’ve noticed the flies and the smell,” said resident Colton Crandall.
Last summer, former owners of the same mobile home park, Bayview Loan Services, failed to pay for trash services and city fees for water, causing trash to pile up and water to be shut off for three days for residents in the park.
The City of Huntsville told ABC 17 News Thursday that new owners called Moberly Investments LLC took over the mobile home park last August, but the Moberly Area Chamber of Commerce said they have no record of that company.
The park manager told ABC 17 the company is based out of Florida, the same as the former owners, Bayview Loan Services.
Huntsville city employees at the water department said they haven’t had a problem with the park since the new company took ownership, although residents said they have.
The park manager said Advanced Disposal is supposed to pick up the trash sometime Friday.
