Suspect on the run after alleged attempted sexual assault in Columbia

A suspect is on the loose after a Thursday morning attempted sexual assault in Columbia.

A 33-year-old woman came into the Columbia Police Department just after 6:00 Thursday morning and told officers she was approached by a man earlier that morning while she was walking on Paris Rd. near Mt. Vernon Ave.

At around 12:30 a.m., the woman said the man pushed her to the ground, held her down, and tried to take off her clothes.

The suspect ran off on foot as a car approached the scene.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s to 30s, approximately six feet tall, and about 170 lbs.

He was last seen wearing a white tank top and white shorts with a blue stripe along the side.

The victim was not injured.
