Hot, humid weather & storm chances
Southerly winds will send warm, moist air into Mid-Missouri the next few days and with plenty of sunshine Wednesday, temperatures will climb into the lower 90s. The humidity will make the lower 90s feel more like the upper 90s in the afternoon.
A weak cold front draped across the Missouri-Iowa border will help spark spotty storms Wednesday. There is a chance that dissipating storms could move into areas north of HWY 24 early Wednesday morning. These would not be severe. Heading into Wednesday afternoon and evening, the air will become very unstable in northern Missouri and storms will fire ahead of the front. Storms that form could quickly strengthen and pose a damaging wind and large hail threat through the evening hours.
The storm threat continues mainly north of I-70 Thursday afternoon and evening. There is a marginal severe threat which means isolated storms with 40-60 mph winds or hail up to 1 inch in diameter are possible.
