Blasting work could cause delays in Jefferson City

Drivers in Cole County can expect delays this week on Highway 50 in Jefferson City.

Crews will continue blasting operations to widen the road near Jackson Street.

The work is being completed in an effort to make room for construction of the new Lafayette St. interchange.

The work will periodically close Highway 50 in both directions between 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 over the next two weeks.

Each blast should only stop drivers for about 15 minutes.

The 2 year, $20 million project is expected to improve safety and traffic flow along Highway 50.
