Shooting investigation in Cooper County
The Cooper County Sheriff’s Office and the State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal shooting on Lacy Lane in Prairie Home.
Officials say an intruder entered the home, was shot and killed just after midnight Sunday morning.
Sheriff Jerry Wolfe says both the person in the home and the intruder were from Prairie Home. No further details have been released.
The closest neighbors to where the shooting took place were not home early Sunday morning.
Neighbors believe there was an argument between two men in the home over a woman. They believe it turned violent and the homeowner used a gun in self-defense.
We contacted the Cooper County Sheriff’s office and the Highway Patrol for confirmation and further details, but have not heard back from them yet.
