Motorcyclist arrested after pursuit in two counties

A man from Audrain County was arrested early Friday after a pursuit that started in Columbia and ended near Millersburg.

At around 1:15 a.m. a deputy with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department saw a motorcycle speeding in the area of Broadway and Broadway Bluffs Drive. The deputy tried to stop the motorcyclist, but the driver didn’t stop.

The chase that followed went along Route WW into Callaway County, then north on Route J. It ended when the motorcyclist crashed near Route J and Highway 40 north of Millersburg.

Deputies searched the driver, Lewis Cloven of Mexico, and reported finding marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and cash. Lewis, 45, was arrested for resisting arrest, drug possession, careless driving, driving while suspended, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
