19 year-old pleads not guilty in death of Columbia teen
The suspect arrested in the death of another Columbia teen pleaded not guilty. Stone Midgyett appeared in court Monday for involuntary manslaughter.
Two groups started fighting last January 4 near White River and Silver Mill Drive in north Columbia off East Brown School Road.
Midgyett claims the victim, Deante Smith, 17, started shooting at him. That is when Midgyett says he shot back, firing more than a dozen rounds.
Smith later died at the hospital.
