Fugitive arrested for attempted murder of police officer back in Missouri

A Marshall man who sparked a manhunt after police said he pointed a gun at an officer and tried to pull the trigger is now back in Missouri.

Carl Roettgen and his girlfriend are now being held at the Saline County Justice facility. They were brought there from Alabama.

ABC 17 News reported earlier this month Roettgen was arrested in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Police there got information about two wanted fugitives in the area and found them at a campsite in Gulf State Park.

Roettgen and Amber Friend, a Warsaw resident with ties to Armstrong, were taken into custody without incident.

Roettgen was arrested on numerous warrants for attempted murder of a police officer.

Friend was also charged with hindering prosecution.
