Camden Co. detectives investigate Memorial Day weekend sex assault

Camden County authorities are warning residents in the area to be cautious after a Memorial Day weekend sex assault.

The suspect is still on the loose.

Police said it happened in the 100 block of Sweet William Road. The victim told police an unknown man followed her to a boat dock after leaving a bar. She said the suspect forced her onto a docked boat and sexually assaulted her.

Police said the woman was able to fight off her attacker and scream for help. The suspect then dove into the lake and swam away.

As of Saturday, the suspect had not been identified, pending review of nearby surveillance video.

He is described as a white man, about six feet tall with a medium build, tan complexion and tattoos on his arms and neck.
