Weather damages homeless veteran shelter

Welcome Home Inc. has fallen into disrepair as the organization looks toward a new facility to be built a few blocks away.

Maintenance on the current Rangeline Street building has been suspended for budgetary reasons and as a result, the 12 tenants are dealing withstructural and foundation damage as well as flooding.

“We’ve had water that comes through the front door, we have water running down the windows and we have water that’s coming apparently through the floor of the building itself,” said CEO Sarah Grim.

Welcome Home Inc. has raised $500,000 for the new building but needs another $3 million to fully fund the project.

If the money is raised, the new Welcome Home building will be constructed where the Deluxe Inn Motel now stands.
