Sheriff’s department re-examining body of murder victim

Investigators took a second look at a cold case in Pulaski County Wednesday.

The sheriff’s department is exhuming the body of an unknown woman. Officials say she was murdered in Dixon over 34 years ago.

Her body was found in Dixon by a passerby who saw it partially submerged in a creek.

The Pulaski Co. Sheriff said it’s his hope that someone will recognize her in the photo and help bring justice to Jane Doe.

Sheriff Ronald Long in Pulaski County said he hopes to accomplish two things, “We would like to identify Jane Doe and that way we can track down her family, give them some closure in the case and second of all it will also put us on track to maybe finding who the person or people were that murdered her 34 years and two days ago.”

“These cold cases with the evolution of DNA and some of the other processes that we have with the technology that we’re able to solve a lot of these now or at least some of them where we couldn’t several years ago,” said Long.

Authorities ask if anyone recognizes this woman to contact them right away.
