Highway Patrol releases Memorial Day counting period results

The holiday counting period for traffic accidents and citations in the state came to an end at midnight Tuesday morning.

During the period that started Friday night, six people died in traffic crashes in Missouri.

One of those deadly wrecks happened on Highway 54 in Callaway County.

92-year-old William Rogers, a WWII veteran, was killed in the two-car crash.

Over the weekend, Highway Patrol troopers investigated 298 crashes that resulted in 98 injuries.

More than 100 people were arrested for drunk driving.

There were no boating fatalities this year, but there were six crashes. 15 people were arrested for boating while intoxicated.

Boating accidents, DWIs, and traffic deaths were all down this year from last year.
