State audit reveals errors for Cooper Co. town
A new report by the state auditor is raising questions about finances for one Mid-Missouri town.
The state office released its findings for Bunceton, which is about 30 minutes south of Boonville.
The audit revealed errors because the work by the city clerk was not being properly reviewed.
All of Bunceton’s funds are grouped into one financial statement, which makes it hard to track what happens in each account, according to the audit.
There was also a conflict of interest after an alderman was paid $15,000 to serve as the city’s main water operator.
The city received a rating of fair out of four possible ratings (excellent, good, fair and poor).
