Burglary suspect arrested after truck breaks down

A Columbia man went to jail after a broken truck lead to his arrest for a series of break-ins at multiple storage units.

Shawn Reams, 39, was arrested Thursday at his home in 1300 block of Wagon Trail Heights off Highway 63 North.

A search warrant uncovered drugs and stolen electronics.

Police investigated a string of burglaries at two places: Triple L Mini Storage off Paris Road and Northwest Self Storage on I-70 Drive near the mall. Officers took reports at Triple L between March 25 and April 21, and Northwest Storage between April 10 and April 26.

During that time, they identified two suspect vehicles, a maroon Chevrolet S-10 and silver Isuzu Rodeo.

Police found a similar red truck broken down April 10 near Ash and Seventh streets. They later found both vehicles outside the same home.

Reams was taken in custody on a total bond of $23,500.
