Columbia police make an arrest in Forest Ave shooting

Columbia police have made an arrest in a Sunday afternoon shooting that happened at Forest Avenue and Grand.

Officers arrested 18-year-old Sirron Milo on Sexton Road Monday afternoon.

Police say early Sunday afternoon, Milo stole a handgun from shooting victim Aric Lee’s car. When Lee tried to get Milo to stop, Milo chambered a round into the gun.

Later that afternoon, just before 4 p.m., Milo reportedly approached Lee on foot on Forest Avenue and shot him in the stomach.

Officers searched the home where Milo was found and recovered the stolen handgun and ammunition consistent with cartridge casings located at the scene of the shooting.

Milo was arrested for armed criminal action, first degree assault and felony stealing. He was also arrested for two unrelated misdemeanor assault warrants.

18-year-old Lee suffered non-life threatening injuries in the incident.

ABC 17 News dug through court documents and found police say Milo assaulted a man on Providence road 15 days ago.

Court documents say he punched and kicked the man to the ground.

Three days before that assault police said Milo assaulted a woman by grabbing her hair and hitting her.

In March court documents detail a burglary police believe Milo was involved.

The burglary happened on Old Highway 63 and Amelia.

Police say the suspects got away with money, electronics and e-cigarettes.

Milo also has trespassing charges from last year.
