Police: Intoxicated driver damages multiple parked cars
Police arrested a man they say was driving while intoxicated through a neighborhood near Edgewood Avenue and Stewart Road.
Witnesses told police the suspect was driving recklessly on West Boulevard, swerving in and out of the oncoming lane.
The suspect came to a stop in the 500 block of Edgewood Avenue after hitting two parked cars.
“When we got here, the neighborhood had kind of helped detain the guy,” said Sgt. Jeff Rukstad of the Columbia Police Department.
The driver was cooperative when police arrived and is now facing criminal charges for allegedly driving while impaired and leaving the scene of an accident.
