Suspect on the run after injuring, trying to rob woman at gunpoint in Columbia

Columbia Police Wednesday night responded to a call for an armed robbery just before 6:00 p.m. outside the Mosers on Keene St.

Police were still at the scene at 6:30 p.m.

Crime tape was taken down, and a woman was taken to the police station after police said she was robbed at gunpoint just outside the liquor door of Mosers as she was walking to her car.

Police said the male suspect was waiting for her at her car and tried to rob her.

The woman struggled with him and he hit her in the head with an object, possibly a gun.

The woman was bleeding from her head and her hand was bandaged as she left the scene.

Police said the suspect ran off toward the Country Inn and Suites, and they tried to track him with a K-9 unit but lost the scent.
