Storms leave behind damage in parts of Mid-Missouri

Severe thunderstorms moved through Mid-Missouri Wednesday night, leaving damage due to lightning and strong winds.

A homeowner had windows blown out in Columbia due to a lightning strike after a severe thunderstorm moved through Boone County just before 7:00 p.m.

In Saline County, a semi truck was overturned on I-70, about 17 miles west of Boonville at mile marker 84.

In Pettis County, there were multiple reports of damage, mainly near La Monte and Green Ridge. KC Power and Light arrived to restore power to several homes in Pettis County after 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Damaging winds knocked down power lines near Highway 50 in La Monte, causing power outages. Multiple trees blocked roads in La Monte, and an 18″ diameter tree blocked the intersection of Highway AA and Highway 127 near Green Ridge.

An ABC 17 News crew discovered railroad ties that were pulled from the ground by the wind in La Monte.

In Howard County, a large tree blocked Highway 87 three miles west of New Franklin.
