Spring warm-up and storm chances

Temperatures will climb into the 70s early in the week, touching near 80 Wednesday. The weather looks great Tuesday with light winds, sunshine and mild temperatures. However, as a storm system winds up over the Plains Wednesday, winds will increase from the south with gusts as high as 30 mph. It would be best to avoid outdoor burning Wednesday.

There is a chance of isolated showers or t-storms Wednesday afternoon but more widespread showers & t-storms will hold off until late Wednesday night and Thursday as a cold front moves through.

Showers & t-storms are likely Thursday as the front slowly moves south. Some of these storms could become strong by Thursday evening, mainly in areas closer to I-44 and in southern Missouri. If the front slows down, stronger storms could become possible in much of Mid-Missouri. We’ll have updates through the week on the timing.

Much cooler air moves in Friday as showers continue with high temperatures only in the lower 50s.
