Man arrested after leading authorities on car chase in Callaway County

A Mid-Missouri man is behind bars after firing a gun and then leading police on a car chase through Callaway County.

The Callaway County Sheriff’s Department arrested Travis Schroer, 33, of Fulton Friday night for resisting arrest and several traffic charges.

Around 8:30 Friday night, deputies responded to a shots fired call near Old Highway 54 and County Road 411. About half an hour later, deputies found the Schroer’s car.

The Callaway county Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol chased the vehicle starting at Old 54 and State Road BB, then crossed Highway 54 onto County Road 338 and continues across State Road J in Guthrie onto State Road Y.

Schroer’s vehicle crashed through a fence on State Road Y and went into a field and was taken into custody shortly after.

A woman passenger, whose name has not yet been released, was also held for questioning.

Schroer is currently being held in the Callaway County Jail on a $20,000 cash only bond.

It’s not the first time Schroer has led police on a chase, according to court records. Last July, Fulton police tried stopping him for driving erratically, but Schroer did not pull over. He led police on a chase before crashing into a trailer parked on the road. Then, he got out of his car and ran from police for a few blocks. Police arrested him for felony possession of drugs, resisting arrest among other charges.

A few months before that, Schroer led deputies on a manhunt in Callaway County after trying to arrest him on a probation and parole violation.

Schroer has pleaded guilty to two felony charges and at least 15 misdemeanor charges in the past including burglary, several assault charges and more.

He has a hearing set in Callaway County on April 10 for the police chase last July.
