Bridge crack causes I-70 lane closure in Cooper Co.

MoDOT has closed one westbound lane of I-70 in Cooper County due to a bridge crack.

Crews were inspecting the bridge at mile marker 93 and found a 2.75″ crack in one of the steel beams in a high tension area of the bridge.

MoDOT Director Dave Nichols told ABC 17 the damage on the Lamine River bridge is a result of an ongoing transportation funding issue.

Repairs on the bridge will start Monday and last up to three days.

The bridge is about 50 years old, and is about 9 miles west of Boonville.
