Rain moves in from the south Thursday night

A storm system lifting to the north from the Gulf of Mexico will send moisture into Mid-Missouri Thursday evening, spreading north overnight. A few light showers are possible by 10 pm at the Lake of the Ozarks with showers increasing and heading north through Friday morning with rain becoming likely by mid-morning Friday.

Rain will gradually shift to the southeast Friday afternoon & evening, ending from northwest to southeast Friday evening. Lingering light rain is possible through mid-morning Saturday in areas near I-44.

Rainfall amounts will range from a tenth of an inch in northwestern sections of Mid-Missouri with higher amounts to the southeast where up to an inch and a half is possible. A Flood Watch has been issued for the eastern Ozarks which includes Phelps county until Saturday morning. Small rivers and creeks along with low water crossings could flood.
