Fire destroys home in Sunrise Beach

A large fire damaged a three-story building at the Lake of the Ozarks Thursday night.

According to Chief Dennis Reilly of the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District, the building was fully in flames by the time firefighters arrived. The building on Shawnee Bend Road housed a number of residential units, but it’s believed no one was home at the time.

Parts of the building collapsed while crews fought the fire; it has been deemed a total loss. Other fire departments were called in to help the Sunrise Beach crews.

Reilly told ABC 17 the cold weather caused some problems, like hose lines freezing up.
