Tax fraud reported in Mid-Missouri
Tax season is not close to over, but there have already been reports of tax fraud in Mid-Missouri.
Police were called to a home off North Cedar Lake Drive this week in south Columbia.
Officers think scammers stole a man’s social security number and filed taxes in his name so they could cash his return check.
The victim also reported the theft to the IRS, and the case is still under investigation.
