Sturgeon man arrested after two-county chase

A Sturgeon man was arrested early Thursday after deputies say he led them on a cross-county chase.

It started shortly before 2:30 a.m. when a deputy saw the suspect run a red light in the area of East Broadway and Keene Street in Columbia. The deputy stopped the car, and said the driver, Dalton Perkins, got angry and wouldn’t obey commands to get out of the car. When deputies tried to get Perkins out of his car, he allegedly sped away east along Highway WW.

The resulting pursuit went into Callaway County, where deputies used spikes to try and slow Perkins down. He finally stopped in Fulton, where he was arrested. Deputies then took Perkins to the Boone County jail.

Perkins, 24, was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, driving while intoxicated and failing to stop for a red light. His bond has been set at $5,095.
