Man facing charges for setting fire to Columbia home with woman inside

Saturday, one man is facing charges for setting fire to a Columbia home while a woman was inside.

David Reed, 47, is being charged with first degree arson for a fire that happened late last year.

Columbia police said Reed was already in the Boone County Jail for three burglaries. Last month, we told you Reed was arrested on Jan. 9 for burglary, property damage, fraudulent use of a credit device and more.

According to police, Reed reportedly set fire to a home shortly before 11:00 the night of Dec. 15 in the 3400 block of Rock Quarry Road in south Columbia.

In December, ABC 17 News was on the scene and reported a woman managed to escape the burning trailer by breaking through a window.

Police said Reed is charged with arson in the first degree because someone was inside the home at the time.

The Columbia Fire Department found an accelerant was used to burn the home, police said.

Officials at the Boone County Jail said Reed’s bond is set for nearly $80,000. He is set to appear in court Feb. 17.
