Biggest snow so far this season

Our first winter storm of the season moved through Mid-Missouri Sunday night & Monday producing a big range of snowfall amounts. There were several reports from around Columbia ranging from 5 to almost 7 inches. The official report for Columbia which comes from the Columbia Regional Airport came in with 3 inches, boosting our season total to only 6.3″ which is 8″ below normal.

Highest amounts fell in a narrow band in east-central Missouri where 7-10″ snow fell while areas just south of I-70 such as Jefferson City only received up to 3.5″ of snow.

Looking at seasonal snow in the past 10 seasons, we are far below the last 2 seasons. However, in 2012-13, most of the 35″ came late in the season with 30.8″ snow which fell after February 20th, 10″ which came in March.
