Two suspects in custody following Cole Co. high speed chase

Two suspects are in custody following a high speed chase that led to a manhunt west of Jefferson City Friday afternoon.

Cole County Sheriff Greg White told ABC 17 News the case has been turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.

ABC 17 News confirmed two people led police on a high speed chase from West Truman Blvd. to a rock quarry at Cross Key Court and Catalina Drive, near Binder Lake Park.

Cole County deputies were surrounding the suspect’s car, which is in the quarry.

Law enforcement searched a crawl space in a house near Rainbow Drive and Henwick Lane for a white man who is described as 6’4″, 230 lbs.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol helicopter was involved in the search.

Neighbors in the area were shocked because the neighborhood is always quiet.

Mike Ittner witnessed the whole thing.

“A car and then several police cars chasing it that went down this outer road over here, down to this quarry. Neighbors came up and looked down, and what we saw was a car that was up against the quarry and police cars surrounding it,” said Ittner.

About two dozen law enforcement officers and deputies from Cole County and Jefferson City, as well as state troopers responded to the scene.
