Weekend arctic air and snow

An arctic front will move through Mid-Missouri Saturday morning bringing clouds, increasing northerly winds and very cold air. A few snow showers are possible east of HWY 63 Saturday morning as the front moves through but no accumulation is expected.

Temperatures will fall into the teens by evening and drop to the single digits early Sunday morning with northerly winds at 10-15 mph producing wind chills as low as 10 below zero north of I-70. Bitterly cold air sticks around Sunday keeping our temperatures in the teens most of the afternoon.

An upper level disturbance is forecast to move through the region during the day Sunday bringing light snow as early as mid-morning in our western counties and moving out by early evening. At this time it looks like most areas will receive light snow accumulation but some forecast data suggests there will be bands of moderate snow which could bring snow totals higher. Please check back for updates on specific snow amounts Friday and through the weekend.
