Trial set for men accused of distributing millions in synthetic drugs

A summer trial date has been set for two men accused of selling millions of dollars worth of synthetic marijuana in Columbia.

45-year-old Kevin Bay and 62-year-old John Hawkins were federally indicted in October 2013 for their role in the sale of more than $2 million of synthetic pot, also known as K2. The two were also charged for selling drug paraphernalia. The distribution was happening at Bocomo Bay, now known as Backstreet Homebrew and Smoke Supplies on Wilkes Blvd. in Columbia.

The trial for the two is set for July 13 in Jefferson City.

The indictment alleges the sales happened between March 1, 2011 and early October 2013.
