Columbia man charged with raping teen

A Columbia man is charged Wednesday with raping a 14-year-old girl.

60-year-old John Sullivan is charged with two counts of statutory sodomy.

Sullivan is also accused of performing oral sex on the victim.

Court documents show the case came to light after someone became suspicious of a Facebook conversation. In that conversation, it was discovered the 14-year-old had been having intercourse with an older man, which investigators eventually found out was Sullivan.

The incidents happened at Sullivan’s home on Gans Creek Road, and at another location in Boone County.

The court documents also said Sullivan told police the law is wrong and he stated he is terminally ill. He admitted to the sexual contact and doesn’t believe anything should happen to him. He also said he’s very angry with the child for telling anyone what happened.

Sullivan is currently being held in the Boone County Jail on $100,000 bond, and the court has ordered him to not have contact with anyone under the age of 17.
