Flight arrival times to change at Columbia Regional Airport

Beginning March 29, those who fly into Columbia Regional Airport will have later arrival times on some evening flights.

This is because American Airlines decided to adjust the times.

Greg Cecil with the Airport Advisory Board told ABC 17 News that this is standard.

“It’s just a general thing the airlines do. I think they shift them around for profitability purposes. A plane may be doing better in a certain market than others so they may want to fly to markets where their planes are full,” said Cecil.

He told ABC 17 News he sees this as a positive change with flights arriving later which allows for one day business trips and more connections from the west coast.

Here’s how the changes will impact travelers:

For those flying into Columbia from Dallas, the new evening arrival time will be 9:50 p.m., instead of around 8:30 p.m. as is the current arrival time.

For those flying into Columbia from Chicago, the new evening arrival time will be 11:15 p.m., instead of 9:15 p.m. as is the current arrival time for that flight.

If a traveler booked a flight months ahead of time, they will receive a notification from the airline detailing the time change.
