Boone Co. Commission hires new 911 director

The Boone County Commission has hired a new director of 911 communications.

Scott Shelton will take over the position starting Friday.

Shelton is from Columbia and came back recently after nearly 37 years in law enforcement. That career took him from Columbia to Kansas City, and North Carolina.

Shelton is a graduate of the FBI national academy.

Boone County plans to host a public welcome reception Friday from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Boone County Government Center.
