Columbia man sentenced for 2012 bank robbery

A Columbia man was sentenced Monday for his role in a 2012 armed robbery at Boone County National Bank.

Alvin Watkins was convicted of robbery, and two years later he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, and possession with intent to distribute.

On Monday, he was sentenced to 12 years in prison for all three crimes, but a judge said he may be able to go to a substance abuse program while in jail and be released upon completion.
