Man dies in Higbee garage fire

An investigation is underway into a deadly fire in Higbee. The fire happened in a garage on on Burton Street at around 7 p.m. Thursday.

The victim is 55-year-old Michael Farmer of rural Moberly.

61-year-old Mike Coulston was injured in the fire and was life-flighted to a Columbia hospital where he’s listed in good condition.

Witnesses at the scene said the men were working on a gas tank when the fire started.

Damage estimates are unknown as of Friday afternoon.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s office is assisting the fire marshal’s office in the investigation.
