Multiple MLK memorial events held Monday in Columbia

There were multiple activities and events going on in Columbia Monday to honor Martin Luther King Jr.

The Columbia chapter of the NAACP held a memorial at the MLK monument on Stadium Boulevard Monday morning at 11:00. Then there was a motorcade to Second Baptist Church downtown near Providence and Broadway.

Columbia Parks and Recreation is also holding its annual MLK candlelight walk. The event started at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Douglass High School and will end at the St. Luke United Methodist Church off Ash Street for a celebration.
